The Good Menopause

The Good Menopause – In a Minute

Dr. Jill Wohlfeil from Reneu Health & Medispa. Thanks for joining me for my first Instagram Live production of The Good Menopause -In a Minute. For most women menopause is not something they understand or look forward to. Hormones in general are rather mysterious, and fluctuations can wreck havoc in the steadiest of persons. Just look back to adolescence. I like to tell my patients that peri-menopause (the transition from normal ovarian function to no ovarian function ie menopause) is really just the opposite of adolescent hormonal imbalance, accept we can’t run up into our room, slam the door and play the music to house rattling volumes – although maybe some of you have done that, or at least thought of doing that. Regardless, peri-menopause and menopause represent two of the most life-altering hormonal transitions for women. Brainfog, weight gain, insomnia, hot flashes, decreased ( or just plain missing) sex drive, hair loss, mood swings, fatigue…the list goes on. But that doesn’t mean we have to just tough it out and hope things get better on their own. Balancing hormones is critical to keep our brain chemistry, gut function, immune system and metabolism at their best. And when I say balancing hormones, I don’t just mean estrogen, as might be the first hormone you think of when we are talking about menopause.

Balancing hormones means ALL hormones. No hormone functions all by itself. Think of it like a factory assembly line. Every worker on that line has a very important role in producing the end product – the healthiest you! If even one worker is missing, or slow, or dysfunctional, you will not be getting the best product in the end, the best YOU. So those “workers” include not only estrogen and the other ovarian hormones, but thyroid, adrenal and pancreatic (or insulin) hormones as well. Other “workers” in that factory analogy include vitamins and co-factors, stress management, proper sleep, healthy eating, exercise and mindfulness.

So I’m going to take a “minute” to talk to you weekly about each of these hormones and how here are Reneu we give you the tools for A Good Menopause. Tune in next Monday for the estrogen minute.
